Tracing Yu Zhang’s Footsteps, Solidifying the Original Aspiration’s Essence

Time:2026-10-13

To deepen and solidify Party‑spirit education and carry forward the noble spirit of the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries, the Party branch of Sichuan Shengda Pump Industry recently organized all on‑duty Party members to visit the Former Residence Museum of Wu Yuzhang in Rong County, Zigong, for a themed study‑and‑visit activity titled “Tracing the Footsteps of Our Forebears, Inheriting the Original Aspiration of the Revolution.” Through this immersive, real‑world red‑education experience, participants reflected on their original aspirations and mission and drew strength to forge ahead.

Comrade Wu Yuzhang was an outstanding proletarian revolutionary, educator, historian, and scholar of language and writing in China, as well as a pioneer of higher education in the People’s Republic of China. Hailing from the rural countryside of Rong County in Sichuan, he witnessed and participated in the Wuxu Reform, the Xinhai Revolution, and the Nanchang Uprising. Throughout his long revolutionary career, he consistently stood at the forefront of his era, striving tirelessly. Alongside Dong Biwu, Lin Boqu, Xu Teli, and Xie Juezai, he was revered as one of the “Five Elders of Yan’an,” dedicating his entire life to the noble ideal of “doing good deeds throughout one’s lifetime.”

During the visit, all Party members lined up neatly beneath the Party flag and reaffirmed their oath of admission. Their resolute voices conveyed a steadfast determination to carry forward the red heritage and fulfill their duties as Party members. In on-site discussions, participants remarked that they had previously only read about Comrade Wu Yuzhang’s achievements in textbooks. Only by coming to his hometown and seeing firsthand the authentic historical records—his journey to Japan in search of a path to national salvation, his refusal of high office and lavish rewards in steadfast adherence to his convictions, and his lifelong simplicity and frugality without seeking special treatment—did they truly grasp the profound meaning of “hard work and perseverance, day in and day out, for decades.”

This visit and study was not merely a simple red‑tourism excursion, but rather a vivid, on‑site lesson in Party spirit. Following the event, the Party branch urged all participants to translate their insights into concrete motivation for their work, to embody in their daily duties the spirit of Comrade Wu Yuzhang—“always striving at the forefront of the times”—and to step forward as pioneers and role models in all aspects of the company’s subsequent production and operations. By adopting a pragmatic and responsible work style, they are called upon to drive the company’s high‑quality development and, through concrete actions, carry forward the revolutionary ideals and fighting spirit of the older generation of revolutionaries.
